Spanish Language Programs at Instituto Cultural Oaxaca
Core Spanish Programs (Year-Round)
We offer two main Spanish programs that run throughout the year, starting every other Monday. All levels are welcome, and you can choose the pace that fits your needs.
Full Spanish Immersion Program
Our most complete option — ideal for students seeking an intensive and immersive experience.

Up to 7 hours of contact with Spanish per day.

Includes: Spanish classes, conversation sessions, cultural workshops (e.g., cooking, salsa, weaving, pottery, Spanish Conversation), and Intercambio (language exchange with local Oaxacans)

Great for students who want to fully engage with the language and culture during their time in Oaxaca
Please remember that the Cultural Workshops and Intercambio activities only take place from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, students have the afternoon off.
The Cultural Workshops cover a variety of topics, including traditional Oaxacan cooking, salsa dancing, weaving, and conversational Spanish.
20-Hour Spanish Language Program
Ideal for students who want a balance between studying and having free time.

4 hours per day (morning classes), Monday to Friday

Includes: Spanish and conversation classes

Afternoons are free for exploring Oaxaca, relaxing, or joining optional cultural activities.
It's essential to note that this program does not include cultural workshops. However, it does have the Intercambio, our language exchange activity.

Specialized Spanish Programs

Latin American Literature Program (January)

These are our regular Spanish programs, enhanced with workshops and activities tied to major cultural celebrations in Oaxaca. A great way to learn Spanish while experiencing authentic traditions.

Guelaguetza Program – In July, during Oaxaca’s most important festival

Day of the Dead Program – Late October through early November

Christmas Program – December, with workshops on holiday food and traditions
Seasonal workshops include: piñata-making, traditional cooking, altar-building, and guided excursions during special local events.
