Spanish for Medical Professionals in Oaxaca
The Spanish for Health Care Professionals is a 2-week intensive Spanish Language course offered in 2025 by the Instituto Cultural Oaxaca. Classes will begin on the following dates:

Monday, March 10, and conclude on Friday, March 21, 2025
Monday, May 19, and conclude on Friday, May 30, 2025.

This Spanish course for healthcare professionals seeks to facilitate effective communication between healthcare professionals and their Spanish-speaking patients and clients.
During this course, students will learn to speak, comprehend, read, and write in Spanish, focusing on specialized vocabulary and medical communication.
The topics in this course include the body, parts and functions, symptoms of ailments and diseases, types and characteristics of diseases, medical and surgical equipment, medical appointments, studies, examinations and diagnoses.
Key Aspects of the Medical Spanish for Health Care Professionals Course
Cultural Immersion
To reinforce the cultural immersion, students will reflect on topics related to the Mexican Health System in contrast to the systems in other countries, the leading health problems in Mexican culture, traditional medicine, food and nutrition in Mexico.
Interactive lectures
During this course, students will participate in an interactive talk with healthcare professionals from Oaxaca to learn from first-hand experience the challenges they face in the healthcare system in Mexico. Among guest speakers are Doctors, nurses, midwives, and traditional medicine healers known as "curanderas."

Be a student or user of Spanish as a second language related to the study or practice of general, specialized, complementary, and alternative medicine, nursing, therapy, and social work.
